English or
Western. You decide when
and how many lessons are right for you, however we recommend at least five
1-hour lessons to gain an understanding of horsemanship. Learning speeds vary for each
rider. Please note that lessons involve total horsemanship, not just
riding. Our instructors have shown hundreds of people:
- How to feed, groom and care for a
horse
- Horse safety
- Fundamentals of horsemanship
- Types of tack and how to use it
- Fundamentals of riding

The first lesson will involve an evaluation of
the student and will focus on building a strong foundation. The student
will learn the basics of feeding, grooming, ground handling, tack and tacking
up. The remainder of the lesson will cover proper mounting, correct
positioning and riding control at a walk.
Further lessons will review ground handling and
will then progress to to riding at a trot, and then at a canter/lope. The
instructor will focus on form, position and balance. In addition, the
lesson will cover leads, patterns and the use of natural aids. Once the
student becomes a proficient rider, then the lessons can proceed to more
advanced riding disciplines.
If you choose to continue past the first five
lessons, we can help you to develop your own style and to pursue your individual
interests such as trail riding, team penning, barrel racing, reining, jumping or
showing. The goal of the lessons will be to provide the foundation for a lifetime of
horsemanship.
